Past Meetings

On 20 and 6 March 2011 and 13 February 2011 we practised the tunes to be played at the Celtic Fiddle Rally at this year's National Folk Festival In Canberra at Easter.

On Sunday 5 December 2010 we met at Mark's birthday party at his place in Kambah and played tunes just for fun.

Lots of practices were held between August and November 2010 to practice for the gig on Friday 26 November 2010 at Canberra's Merry Muse.

On 4 July 2010 we played a pile of old and more recent tunes, including Bonny at Morn, Leire's Welcome to Cozac, Lureens Tune, Marnie Swanson, Stella's Trip to Kamloops, 250 to Vigo, Fiddlers Sundays, Franks Reel, John McDonald's Reel, Farewell to Whalley Range and Maggie's Pancakes.

On 6 June 2010 and 9 May 2010 we revised some old and new sets, including John McDonald's Reel, Farewell to Whalley Range, Maggie's Pancakes and Phoenix.

On 28 March, 14 March, 3 March and 14 February 2010 we practised the tunes to be played at the Celtic Fiddle Rally at this year's National Folk Festival In Canberra at Easter.

On 22 November 2009 we reviewed several of the tunes we had learnt during the year.

On 25 October 2009 we reviewed the John McDonald's Reel set, The Tangerine Dream, the Miss Mary Macdonald set and the Da Auld Resting Chair set.

On 27 September 2009 Lachlan taught us a new tune, The Tangerine Dream by Chris Stout from Fiddlers Bid. We then reviewed John McDonald's Reel, Farewell to Whalley Range and Maggie's Pancakes.

On 30 August 2009 we played Maggie's Pancakes, John McDonald's Reel, Farewell to Whalley Range, Da Auld Resting Chair, Ahint Da Daeks O' Voe, Come Awa' In and Phoenix.

On 26 July 2009 we played the Flowers of Edinburgh set and the Mull Rant set, and again polished Stella's Trip to Kamloops, John McDonald's Reel and Farewell to Whalley Range.

On 28 June 2009 and 31 May 2009 we played some of our older sets, and ran through Stella's Trip to Kamloops, John McDonald's Reel and Farewell to Whalley Range.

On 3 May 2009 we learned Stella's Trip to Kamloops and Michael McGoldrick's Farewell to Whalley Range.

On 1 March 2009, 15 March 2009 and 15 April 2009, we practised some of the tunes to be played at the Celtic Fiddle Rally at this year's National Folk Festival In Canberra at Easter.

On 1 February 2009, we again practised Da Auld Resting Chair, Come Awa' In, Ahint Da Daeks O' Voe, John McDonald's Reel and Phoenix, focussing on arrangements and chords.

On 7 December 2008, we practised Da Auld Resting Chair, Come Awa' In and Ahint Da Daeks O' Voe. We then ran through John McDonald's Reel and Phoenix.

On 2 November 2008 we started to learn Michael McGoldrick's Farewell to Whalley Range. We also ran through the Shetland set consisting of Da Auld Resting Chair, Come Awa' In and Ahint Da Daeks O' Voe. We then ran through John McDonald's Reel and learned some drones to go with it.

On 28 September 2008 we learned Tom Anderson's Da Auld Resting Chair and placed it in a set with Come Awa' In and Ahint Da Daeks O' Voe. We then ran through Phoenix in all its many parts.

On 31 August 2008 we played Tom Anderson's Ahint Da Daeks O' Voe, Come Awa' In and Angus Grant's Lureen's Tune.

We had a special meeting on 24 August 2008 to record some tunes to use in our application to perform at the 2009 National Folk Festival. The tunes we recorded are on our sound files page.

On 3 August 2008 we played Annbjorg Lien's Phoenix (a cool Norwegian tune in 7/8), the Les Trois Grands Luthiers set and Ahint Da Daeks O'Voe.

On 6 July 2008, we played Annbjorg Lien's Phoenix, The Sands of Murness/Myra's Jig/One Old Woman Would Dance set and Leire's Welcome to Cozac.
